DESCRIPTION:Please join us at the Vern Burton Community Center in Port Angeles\, WA on June 20th from 11am-noon\, for a new and improved “Spin Your Meter Backwards With Solar” presentation by Andy Cochrane. Topics include how solar electric power systems work\, new technologies\, state and utility financial incentives\, equipment choices and the basics of site assessment. Olympic Peninsula solar projects will be used to illustrate. This presentation is recently updated with changes in policy\, incentives\, and updates in technology for solar and storage.  \nSince 2003 Power Trip Energy Corp has installed over 1200 grid-tied solar PV systems on the Olympic Peninsula totaling more than 10 megawatts of power-generating capacity. DESCRIPTION:Jefferson County’s annual community preparedness gathering returns Saturday\, June 27 at Finnriver Farm & Cidery in Chimacum\, starting at 10am. All County Preparedness Day is free\, open to all Jefferson County residents\, and features 30+ community booths\, 10 workshops\, hands-on resilience activities\, and FREE strawberry shortcake! More information at the production alliance website. \nPresented by The Production Alliance and Jefferson County\, this year’s event is all about local resilience through community networks. The morning will feature education on a variety of emergency preparedness topics. Afternoon activities begin at noon\, with Resilience Games such as bucket brigade\, tug of war\, three-legged race\, and kids obstacle course. \n \nAmong the 30+ participating organizations are East Jefferson Fire Rescue\, Jefferson County Public Health\, the Red Cross\, Jefferson Healthcare\, Local 20/20\, NPREP\, Dove House\, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office\, and Power Trip Energy Corp\, which will present at 11am on solar and battery backup systems for home energy resilience. \nAll County Preparedness Day is free to attend. Jefferson Transit routes #1 Brinnon and #6 Tri Area Loop serve the Finnriver site.
