What is Preparedness Day

A free community celebration designed to inspire residents of East Jefferson County to learn about resilience and emergency preparedness. Preparedness Day combines the challenging topic of Emergency Preparedness with an uplifting and welcoming atmosphere that attracts a broad range of residents. This is the first touchpoint on Emergency Preparedness for many local residents and a deep dive on skill building and resource sharing for those who are ready.

Goals for Preparedness Day

  • Raise awareness of the importance of Emergency Preparedness

  • Provide Access to EP resources and networks

  • Build community / strengthen relationships

  • Strengthening the working relationships among EP partners

  • Strengthen community resilience in general

  • Skill building for community members

  • Reaching folks that have never been a part of the EP world is a priority

More broadly, over the next 5 years we seek to inspire every Jefferson County resident to prepare to survive without access to food, water and medical attention outside of their neighborhood. 3 Days prepared = Good, Two Weeks prepared = Better, 30 Days prepared = Best!
