Solar Installers in Sequim, WA
Power Trip Energy has installed solar on Sequim homes since 2003, and more than 110 Sequim projects are in our online archive, more than any other town we serve outside our Port Townsend base. Sequim is served by Clallam County PUD, and under Washington’s net metering law the surplus power your array makes in summer earns bill credits you use in winter. We are a licensed Washington electrical and general contractor with NABCEP-certified staff, and we installed Clallam PUD’s own community solar array on Washington Street in Sequim.

What homeowners say about Power Trip Energy
“We are approaching our ten year anniversary of solar installation in October. We just passed 50,000 KW produced last week. Everything is working as expected and we are certainly thrilled with our continued solar electric production.”
“When we were finally ready to go ahead with our project last year, throughout the entire process they were responsive and thorough. We liked the fact that they followed through on their timelines and commitments. They coordinated smoothly with our local Public Utility District and they patiently answered all of our questions.”
Clallam County PUD and net metering in Sequim
Homes and businesses in Sequim get their electricity from Clallam County PUD. Washington’s net metering law, in place since 1998 and expanded by the 2019 Solar Fairness Act, requires every utility in the state, including Clallam PUD, to connect customer-owned solar PV systems and credit the surplus electricity they send to the grid against the power you draw at night and in winter.
In the Northwest, solar production peaks in summer and electricity use peaks in winter. Net metering lets you bank summer credits on your PUD bill and spend them in the darker months, which is why we size a system on its yearly output rather than any single day. We handle the system design, the interconnection paperwork with Clallam PUD and the building permit. Sequim solar questions
Which utility serves Sequim, and does it offer net metering?
Sequim is served by Clallam County PUD. Washington’s net metering law requires every utility in the state, including the PUD, to connect customer-owned solar PV systems and credit surplus electricity against your usage. Summer credits carry forward and offset your winter bills. We file the interconnection paperwork with Clallam PUD for you.
Does solar actually work in Sequim?
Yes. Our Sequim installs have produced since 2003, and net metering means the sunny months pay for the grey ones. We quote yearly production for your roof, not a daily figure, so the estimate already includes winter. Read more in our FAQ.
How many solar systems has Power Trip Energy installed in Sequim?
More than 110 Sequim projects are in our online archive, plus over 1,100 installations across Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap counties. Recent local work includes a 22.88 kW rooftop array (2026), a ground-mounted 7.04 kW array (2025), 12.6 kW and 10.5 kW arrays (2025) and a phase II expansion (2024). The 30% residential federal credit ended for systems installed after December 31, 2025. The 30% commercial investment tax credit still applies to businesses, and Washington’s sales tax exemption and net metering still apply to homes.
